"Had Bajwa been genuinely concerned with the welfare of the farming community of border areas of Majha, he would have raised his voice in the Parliament," Majithia said.

Terming Bajwa's statement as 'political stunt', he said such utterances will fail to have an impact on people of the state.

Majithia alleged the Congress led UPA government of ignoring the needs and requirements of Punjab.

The UPA government surrounded by controversies and scams has failed to provide the required assistance to the state, he said.

The UPA government is returning to Punjab only 1.32 per cent of the Central taxes being collected from the state, which in process has ruined its economy, he said.

Majithia said that due to deficit rains, the state government has spent Rs 7,000 crore to purchase power to supply it to the farmers.
