Congress MP Naveen Jindal today met Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi and stressed on the need to expand postal ballot system to allow Indians to exercise their right to vote by post or any other form of absentee voting through internet or proxy.
Jindal said in the true spirit of Indian democracy, it is imperative that the country expands the postal ballot system to bring it at par with other nations by allowing voting by internet or proxy.
The Congress MP said the purpose of this effort would be to make the electoral process in India more inclusive and far less cumbersome, so that each and every voter in the country is able to exercise the right to vote, and also have the opportunity to vote.
The EC assured the MP that it would look into the issue.
