Congress leader Mahabal Mishra today wrote to Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde demanding strict action against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for violating Section 144 of CrPC imposed by Delhi Police ahead of the Republic Day function here.

"Despite being a constitutional authority... Kejriwal is not only defying prohibitory orders but also categorically inciting disaffection amongst the police force by asking them to take leave, take off their uniform, defy the authorities and join him," Mishra, the MP for the west Delhi Lok Sabha seat, says in the letter.

Kejriwal's statements inciting the police and calling upon the public to gather in large numbers to disturb the Republic Day function are available in media recordings, Mishra said, adding that such activities were against the Indian constitution.

The authorities concerned should be directed to take strict action against the Delhi CM as he has violated orders which have been applied in view of the security arrangements for the Republic Day function, the letter added.
