The BJP today accused the Congress of promoting violence in Rajasthan and turning the battle of ballots into a battle of stones.

The ruling party also reiterated its allegation against the Congress that it was behind Saturday's stone-pelting at a Chief Minister Vasuandhara Raje's meeting during her Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Arun Chaturvedi said that Congress leaders have "lost self control" due to the "success" of Raje's Yatra and therefore they are "promoting" violence.

"Congress leaders have lost their self-control after seeing the huge response and success to the CM's Rajasthan Gaurav Yata and hence they are now encouraging violence and misleading public," Chaturvedi told reporters at the party office here.

"The Congress is trying to gather public in the name of Rahul Gandhi. But two Sankalp rallies have taken place and he did not come in either of the meetings. The Congress did not find a face for CM post therefore they have projected Gandhi's face for elections," he said.

Raje's yatra was targeted by miscreants in Jodhpur's Osian where stones were pelted at her rath on Saturday.
