Accusing the ruling BJP at the Centre of hatching a "conspiracy" to destabilise Congress governments in various states, the state party unit today held a protest here against the imposition of President's rule in Uttarakhand, calling it "murder of democracy".
"The imposition of President's rule in Uttarakhand is clearly a murder of democracy. The BJP-led government in the centre hatched a conspiracy to destabilise the Harish Rawat-led government in Uttarakhand," Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, G A Mir said.
He said in Arunachal Pradesh, the central government had first conspired to engineer defection within the Congress which led to the imposition of President's rule there.

Mir said the "toppling" of democratically elected government in a state was a dangerous trend which does not augur well for the democratic set-up of the country.
"The destabilisation of Harish Rawat government after engineering defection at the behest of BJP, in the Congress legislature and thereafter recommending imposing of President's rule, a day before the date fixed for floor test, clearly establishes the undemocratic and unconstitutional mode adopted by the BJP government at the Centre," Mir said.
Mir said destabilising the Congrss-ruled states first in Aruanchal Pradesh and now in Uttrakhand has clearly exposed the modus operandi of the BJP to crush opposition, against all democratic and constitutional norms.
