BJP today accused Congress of raising irrelevant questions to divert attention from its alleged role in the VVIP chopper scam and charged it with playing with national security.

It also sought to know if Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her political secretary Ahmed Patel will cooperate with investigation agencies or "raise a drama like the party did over the National Herald case".

"By taking commission in a defence deal, the UPA government not only committed corruption but also played with national security. Congress should answer where are those who took commission as those having given it are in jail.

"It is asking irrelevant questions to divert questions being raised about its role in the scam. It should first tell people who got the kickbacks," BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had called the Modi government "suit-boot ki sarkar" but it appears that the UPA government was a "loot and suitcase sarkar", he said.

Hitting back at Congress over its attack on BJP chief Amit Shah over criminal investigation against him in the past, he said Shah was "discharged honourably" by courts in cases in which he was "framed" by UPA due its "vindictiveness" against him.

"Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are being prosecuted in the National Herald scam. The Congress chief's name is mentioned in the chopper deal. There is no comparison between charges against the Congress leaders and Amit Shah," Sharma said.

Recently a Congress leader said on television that there is no mistake by his leader but only by the Manmohan Singh government. So, this leader said that questions should only be asked by the Manmohan Singh government.

"They forget who was the UPA chairperson of that government," she said.
