After its humiliating defeat in civic body polls, Congress today reconstitued its Madhya Pradesh unit appointing 18 Vice Presidents, 40 general secretaries and 83 secretaries besides accommodating all senior leaders as permanent invitees in its executive committee.

The organisational changes in the faction-ridden state unit currently headed by a young leader Arun Yadav were due for a long time.

All the top party leaders from the state including Kamal Nath, Digvijay Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Suresh Pachouri and Satyavrat Chaturvedi besides former PCC chief Kantilal Bhuria, CLP leader Satyadev Katare, party MP Vijay Laxmi Sadho and AICC spokesperson Shobha Oza have been accommodated as Permanent Invitees in the Committee.

"Congress president Sonia Gandhi has approved the names of office bearers and members of the Executive Committee of Madhya Pradesh Congress including permanent invitees and special invitees," party general secretary in-charge of organisation Janardan Dwivedi said in a statement.

Vinod Daga has been appointed the Treasurer of the party's state unit.

The party has appointed 28 permanent invitees and 24 Special Invitees.

Congress has been out of power in the state for last 12-13 years and the defeat of the party in the recently concluded civic bodies polls has not gone down well with the central leadership as it came despite a full throttle campaign by it against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Vyapam scam.

As the soul searching goes on in Congress on what went wrong, the party hopes to make a difference in the state by promoting new faces.
