SAD today said the involvement of Punjab Congress in organising 'Sarbat Khalsa' along with some hardline Sikh groups has been "proven" after its party president Partap Bajwa refused to take action against his workers for supporting the congregation.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said in a statement here, "It was condemnable that the Punjab Congress chief failed to recognise the overwhelming proof of the manner in which Congress leaders were hand-in-glove with the organisers of the congregation on November 10."
"Recent evidence points out that Congress leaders of the Majha region, including Lalli Majithia and Harminder Gill, were even helping the radicals to collect people and were also involved in framing of the resolutions which were read out at the congregation," he said.
Further attacking the party, he said that "the Congress leader, who had facilitated Majithia and Gill's conversation with two of the organisers of the congregation, had also identified both their voices and statements made on the phone. If this is not evidence what is? Do you not trust your own party leaders?", he said.
Besides this, the SAD president said, Bajwa's own role was under suspect.
Stating that Bajwa could not keep evading this issue, he said, "Either you must throw all Congress leaders present at the extremist gathering out of the party or admit that you acquiesced to their presence and even allowed them to send Congress workers to the meeting to score brownie points against the SAD."
Sukhbir said that it has now been "proven" that the 'Sarbat Khalsa' was held "with the blessings of Congress".
Addressing party workers in Moga today, Sukhbir said that those who were appointed leaders at the congregation were facing the charges of murder and other heinous crimes.
"How could they lead Sikh community? They are anti-national elements who are hell bent upon pushing the state back to black days," he said.
Sukhbir called upon workers to mobilize people to attend 'Sadbhawna' rallies in three districts of the state from November 23 aimed to bring harmony in the state and strengthen the spirit of unity.
Meanwhile, around 15 people allegedly owing allegiance to Aam Aadmi Party showed black flags to the cavalcade of Sukhbir near Bughipura crossing in Moga. Police detained all of the activists.
