Opposition Congress today alleged that the party MLA from Dabolim seat, Mauvin Godinho is in possession of "benami" properties and is working against the interests of the party by "colluding" with chief minister and BJP leader Manohar Parrikar.

Addressing a press conference here, state Congress unit spokesman Durgadas Kamat said, "the party had been collecting evidence of benami properties owned by Godinho who has been working against the organisation by being in collusion with Parrikar".

"We are collecting strong evidence against him (Godinho) so that we can nail him," Kamat said, adding that the properties in question lie in the vicinity of upcoming Mopa international airport in Pernem taluka.

However, Kamat said that party will not suspend the legislator.

"Godinho will not be suspended even though the party bosses are aware about his anti-party activities. Because Godinho's suspension will make him an unattached legislator," Kamat said, adding "We also want that concerned agencies should probe his assets".

Kamat said the best thing was to "deny him the party ticket for the next elections...Godinho will not be invited for any party function".
