Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Prabhulal Saini today held the Congress responsible for the deteriorating condition of people in the state and said the opposition party should repent for its past "misdeeds" than holding protests.
Yesterday, the Congress had held a demonstration over scarcity of drinking water in Jaipur and broke earthen pots as a mark of protest.
Saini said it would have been better if Congress leaders installed water pots for birds and set up water huts instead.
"It is unfortunate that the Congress is creating a drama by breaking earthen pots. The party is behind the deteriorating condition of the people. They should repent for their past misdeeds than holding protests," he said at a press conference.
The minister said the state government was making all efforts to provide drinking water to people.
Accusing the Congress of doing politics in the name of water, Saini said Rajasthan is largest state in the country with only 1.16 per cent surface water availability.
He said the BJP government in the state spent Rs 20,000 crore in over four years on drinking water projects compared to Rs 12,225 crore spent by Congress between 2008 and 2013.
