Congress today slammed BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj for his controversial comment on Hindu women, saying they were not machines that they should produce four children.

"I think women organisations should come forward...Are women machines that they should produce four children each?" Congress General Secretary and incharge of Uttar Pradesh Madhusudan Mistry posed at a press conference here.

He was commenting on the saffron-clad MP from Unnao requesting women to give birth to at least four children. "Give one to sadhus and ascetics...And another to (guard) the border," he had said at a religious convention in Meerut.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi should say as to what he has to say on Sakshi's statement... He is their (BJP) MP... What right has he to say these things?" Mistry asked.

To a question on pulling down hoardgings of UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Gujarat, Mistry alleged that these were removed by BJP supporters.

"Country's PM was the chief minister of that state...The poster of any other chief minister cannot be installed there," he said, adding that had the government done it, it would have been blamed. So, it got these removed by partymen.

"...If this act (is done) by any government or any party I condemn it," he said.
