Congress today alleged that

development in Uttar Pradesh under Samajwadi Party government was centred around constituencies of certain ruling party leaders, ignoring the interests of farmers, youth and poor.

"During this government, development of areas of only some leaders of the Samajwadi Party is taking place while the intersts of farmers, youth and poor is being ignored," UPCC chief Nirmal Khatri said.

He was speaking at the "Purvanchal Bachao Sammelan' organised in Basti, the party said in a release.

Warning that Congress would not tolerate "this kind of corruption" centred around the powerful people in the present government, Khatri said the path of socialism in the state appeared confined to the welfare of a selected few.

"The progress of the state has come to a halt for the past 22 years because of corruption and political opportunism," he said, asking partymen to give momentum to the struggle against injustice, atrocities and harassment.

Congress National Secretary Prakash Joshi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working in the interest of capitalists and rich.
