In a jolt to the ruling BJD, opposition Congress today snatched away the presitigious Cuttack Municipal Corporation by-poll result of which was declared today.
Congress candidate Gouri Das won the by-poll to Cuttack Municipal Corporation ward number 21 which was earlier represented by former city mayor Anita Behera of BJD. The by-poll was held after she resigned from the council six months ago for her alleged involvement in ration card row.
Nagabhusana Achari of Congress won ward 9 of Buguda NAC respectively.

BJP was not able to open its account anywhere in the state in the by-poll which was held yesterday.
With the victory in Cuttack, the strength of Congress in the 59-member Municipal Corporation council increased to ten. BJD with 37 members is running the council for the second consecutive term.
