Addressing the protesters at Ludhiana, Amarinder said such taxes would stifle trade and industry in the state.
He said the government, instead of imposing such heavy taxes, should have made investment-friendly policies which would generate revenue and create jobs.
Congress leaders also submitted memorandum addressed to the Governor and to the Deputy Commissioners of different districts in the state, a party spokesman said here.
Amarinder was accompanied by senior party leaders including legislative party leader Sunil Jakhar and MP and Congress national spokesperson Manish Tewari.
