Rajasthan former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said corruption has badly affected public distribution system in the state and the poor were "not getting ration at fair price shops".
"There are complaints of corruption in PDS from all over the state but the government is not taking any action which is surprising. Rate of LPG was hiked on Diwali. Crude oil prices are low in the international market but the benefit is not being passed on to the common people," he said.
Gehlot said the law and order situation in the state has "deteriorated" and the government machinery was not functioning in a proper way.
"Inflation is high and people are facing hardship whereas corruption is rampant," he told reporters.
On being appointed as the chairman of 'Congress Screening Committee' for Punjab assembly polls, Gehlot said he has been working with full dedication since the beginning of his political career with the party.
"I have always fulfilled the responsibility given to me by the party," he said.
