"Any incident of violence in the legislative space of any state is reprehensible and abominable. It deserves to be condemned," party spokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters here.

Party general secretary in-charge for Uttar Pradesh Digvijay Singh that both the BSP and the SP were two sides of the same coin.

"Corruption is in its extreme and they (SP) cannot control violence. We had requested people to give a chance to Congress so that we could check all these things. But if the people of UP want it this way, what else can we do about it," Singh said.

In Lucknow, as soon as Joshi began his address to a joint sitting of the Assembly and the Council, BSP members raised banners and jumped on the table of reporters raising slogans.

Shouting 'Governor go back', the BSP members alleged that transfers had become a trade in the state and demanded the dismissal of the Samajwadi Party government.
