The Congress today described the PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir as an "alliance of controversies" and said the two parties carry along their inherent contradictions while being together for the sake of power.

Addressing a convention of party workers the district president of the Pradesh Congress Committee Ghulam Ahmed Mir said, "The two parties secured the mandate of the people by exploiting them on regional and religious lines with the promise of keeping each other out of power, but betrayed the mandate for the lust of power".

He said that both BJP and PDP played regional cards and polarised the polity of the state to keep the people in dark about their pre-poll strategy and later compromise the interests of the people.
