Amid indications that Shiv Sena could join the BJP government in Maharashtra, MPCC leader Manikrao Thakre today said his party would stake claim for the post of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.

"We are the largest opposition group after Shiv Sena joins the government. Our group leader in the Assembly is Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil. It is up to the high command if the Leader of Opposition post should be given to any other leader or retain Vikhe Patil," the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President said.

He also took a dig at Sena saying that it would be for the first time that the main opposition group in the Assembly would be crossing over to the treasury benches.
