Cong to corner Maha govt on issues of common man, farmers

Opposition Congress today said it would corner the Devendra Fadnavis government during the Winter session of the state legislature beginning in Nagpur from December 7, for neglecting the issues concerning the common man and farmers.

Congress Legislature Party co-ordination committee meeting was held in Vidhan Bhavan today to chalk out the floor strategy for the upcoming Winter session.

Party's state unit president Ashok Chavan, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, senior leaders Patangrao Kadam, Balasaheb Thorat were some of the leaders present on the occasion.

"The meeting was held to deliberate on the party's strategy for the Nagpur session. We will hold the government accountable for neglecting the interests of the common man and farmers. We shortlisted issues of priority and deliberated on how to raise them in the legislature," party chief whip and MLC Sanjay Dutt said.
 

Vikhe Patil said the winter session will be held from December 7 to 23.

"The government had fixed the business (of the House) for two weeks. But, the Opposition demanded that the session be extended by a week. Our demand was accepted and the session will be held for three weeks till December 23," he said.
