Punjab Congress today said that the third leg of its mass contact programme will kick off next month even as the party prepares for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

According to a party spokesman, state Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa thanked partymen for their enthusiasm in the first two phases of the Mass Contact Programme across 117 constituencies and asked them to rake up issues of public interest in the third leg.

He was addressing a meeting here at Congress Bhawan.

The meeting also passed a resolution thanking AICC Vice- President Rahul Gandhi for his stand against the ordinance issued by the Union Cabinet to bail out convicted leaders.

He, meanwhile, said that Rahul would visit Punjab on October 10 and address a public meeting at Sangrur.

Bajwa said Congress will launch an initiative to collect information about unemployed youths in the state and then approach high court to give directions for the state government to pay them an allowance.
