Determined to wrest the Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat from BJP, the Congress today held a marathon meeting to elicit the views of the workers for fine tuning the strategy for polls.
All the MPs, MLAs, former MPs and MLAs, members of HPCC and DCC participated in the meeting, presided over by party's state chief Sukhvinder Singh and attended by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Food and Civil Supplies and Transport minister G S Bali.
The Congress workers were of the unanimous view that the party candidates for Hamirpur should be announced immediately to gear up for polls and galvanise the workers.

Virbhadra described the National Food Security Bill as a revolutionary step in ensuring food security and said that UPA government under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi has taken many initiatives for the welfare of the people.
He urged party workers to educate people about the achievements of the UPA government.
Virbhadra said Congress candidate Bikram Singh had defeated Prem Kumar Dhumal(former chief minister) of the BJP from Hamirpur seat in 1996.
Accusing the previous BJP government of misusing the office machinery and allotting lands in large scale to a Cricket Association Company and illegally tapping the phones, Virbhadra said that it had framed him in frivolous cases like Sagar Katha and CD case but he was exonerated by the courts and given a clean chit.
