Congress will try and galvanise its rank and file to mount a sustained campaign aimed at countering the "excesses" committed by ruling SAD-BJP on the people of the state.
Speaking to reporters today at the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee office after addressing party workers, AICC general secretary and party in-charge for Punjab affairs Shakeel Ahmed said party workers, regardless of their stature, were of an unanimous opinion that injustices meted out by the SAD-BJP government should be brought before the people and that there was a need for a continuous movement against the combine.
"In the meeting with party workers, we discussed how there was a need to sort out perceptions, communication gaps and misunderstandings. There were many suggestions as well as grievances of MLAs and other party leaders, which would surely be addressed," he said.
Responding to a query related to a news item in a national daily regarding a letter sent by former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to the AICC president expressing reservations over the appointment of Partap Singh Bajwa as the PPCC chief as he had terrorist links, Ahmed said he found the allegations surprising and had no proof to gauge whether the news report was indeed factual.
"Authenticity of the letter is still not clear and the news report has also not been confirmed by Amarinder about sending a letter to Sonia Gandhi," he said.
