Congress will move two adjournment motions in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on alleged atrocities on dalits and incidents of sacrilege, Leader of Opposition Charanjit Singh Channi said here today.
Attacking the ruling SAD-BJP combine, Channi alleged that the present government has "miserably failed" to protect the rights of the Dalits in the state and the incidents of Dalits atrocities are rising day by day.
The government is shielding the culprits and there is a nexus between the police and the goons of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal, he alleged.

He alleged that police had submitted an investigation document in a court regarding the brutal murder of Dalit youth Bhim Tank recently, where the main accused Akali leader Shiv Lal Doda's name has not been included in the charge sheet.
Channi said that Congress wants a discussion on the issue because we have been saying that the formation of SIT by this government to investigate the matter is an "eye wash just to give safe exit" to the culprits.
He demanded a CBI inquiry into this murder case.
Channi said that in the recent past incidents of desecration of holy book of Guru Granth Sahib are "increasing" day by day and the government has done "nothing" to stop this.
"Already Punjab has suffered a lot and two precious lives were lost in Bargari village in the past and now again one incident has surfaced in Amritsar District. We want a detailed discussion on these both issue in the House," he said.
