Cong urges govt to safeguard people

Congress today urged the Nagaland government to perform its bounden duties to safeguard the people and see to it that Mukalimi incident did nor recur.

Instead of playing a blame game, the state government should peform its duties to safeguard the people and work for their welfare, AICC member K V Pusa said here.

Reacting to the ongoing blame game after the Mukalimi incident and the problem between Rengma and Karbi communities in Karbi Anglong district in Assam which has spilled over to Nagaland, the Congress leader said blame game would not resolve the issue but would further aggravate the volatile situation.
 

He urged the government for adequate compensation to the victims of the Mukalimi incident and also worke out measures for the welfare of Rengma people who have been displaced due to the conflict in Karbi Anglong.
