With ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh cruising towards a record third straight win, Congress today accepted the people's mandate, saying it would continue to play the role of a responsible opposition.
BJP has won 52 seats declared till 1830 hrs and is leading in 105 in the 230-member House, while Congress was way behind the ruling party, having secured 15 seats with its candidates leading in another 50 constituencies.
"Congress will continue to play the role of a strong opposition," Leader of the Opposition Ajay Singh said in a statement.
Ajay also thanked Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the BJP's victory, saying Congress will introspect the cause for its rout.
