Cong workers celebrate Rahul's elevation

The Congress headquarters in Jammu winter capital city today witnessed jubilation with workers and leaders dancing to drum beats to celebrate Rahul Gandhi's elevation as party president.

Led by the J&K Congress chief G A Mir, Congress workers assembled at the Shahidi Chowk headquarters and celebrated the unopposed election of Rahul Gandhi.

Mir said that for quite some time the demand for the elevation of Rahul Gandhi were emerging from among the party cadre.

The rank and file of the party feel that an energetic, dynamic and undeterred leader, Rahul Gandhi, would lead the party successfully like his mother Sonia Gandhi, he added.
 

Rahul Gandhi was elected the Congress president yesterday, marking a generational shift in the Congress and becoming the sixth member of the influential Nehru-Gandhi clan to occupy the post.
