Scores of Congress workers today blocked vehicular traffic on national highway here, protesting against arrest of local Youth Congress president Gagandip Soni.
The workers alleged that Soni has been falsely implicated in a case and was arrested under political pressure.
The protesters, led by party state unit vice-president and Doaba zone in-charge Tarlochan Singh Soondh, staged a 'dharna' demanding suspension of Rawalpindi SHO Joginderpal.

The SHO, however, refuted the charge.
The Congress activists also presented a memorandum to additional commissioner SK Singla.
In a memorandum addressed to the Punjab Governor, the Congress demanded that President's rule be imposed in the state as "state machinery has collapsed and political adversaries of SAD-BJP alliance, especially Congress activists, are being victimised".
They also demanded a judicial probe into "false cases" registered against Congress activists, including Soni.
A group clash took place two years ago at Rawalpindi and Soni's name was mentioned out of "political vendetta" even though he was not present there at that time, they said.
