Hundreds of Congress activists on bullock carts staged a protest here today against the rise in prices of petrol and diesel.
The protesters tried to enter into the collector's office, but were stopped by police.
Later, a delegation submitted a memorandum, addressed to the President, to District Collector Ajai Kumar.
The rise in prices of petrol and diesel is unprecedented and highest in the world, yet there is no efforts to curb it," Congress leader Pradeep Mathur said, addressing the protesters.
In the memorandum, the Congress requested the president to direct the central government to cut fuel rates.
