The JKPCC said the Congress would emerge as the single largest party in the next elections in Jammu and Kashmir as people are fed up of "dual standards" of other parties.

Addressing a meeting at the Congress headquarters here today, JKPCC chief G A Mir said, "The party never indulged in dual standards on its ideology and principles but unfortunately the leaders of other parties change their stance with situations".

Mir said the people of the state have identified those leaders and parties and would teach them a lesson in the elections.

Referring to the PDP and the BJP, he said they proved to be worst opportunists and compromised everything for power.

"The people should reject this kind of opportunist politics and bring the Congress to power for equitable development and treatment to all sections, regions and religions in the state and to bridge the gap created amongst people by the communal, divisive and opportunist forces," he added.

Describing the foot soldiers as backbone of the Congress, the PCC chief asked them to work unitedly and to maintain discipline.

"Those who harm the party during elections have no place in the party," he said.
