A 4.5-km-long flyover would be built from Garden Reach to Diamond Harbour Road in Kolkata at a cost of Rs 313.27 crore, government sources said today.

The four-lane flyover would be built from Garden Reach (Ramnanagar More) to Diamond Harbour (Mominpur) on land owned by Kolkata Port Trust, officials said.

People of Garden Reach will benefit once the flyover is built as most of the roads here are very congested. The existing Bascule bridge disturbs the traffic often by opening out to let ships go, they said.

The flyover is scheduled to be completed in two years and six months. Nearly 35 per cent of the project cost would be provided by Centre under JnNURM.
