Congress activists today burnt effigies of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and Akali MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha to protest the alleged "caste slur remarks" against Congress MLA.
Raising slogans against Valtoha and others, the protesters, led by District Congress Committee president Joginder Singh Mann, also held a demonstration before burning the effigies opposite PWD Rest House along National Highway 1.
Addressing protesters, Mann alleged that Akali "feudal lords" could not digest the rise of a scheduled caste and the "foul-mouthed" Valtoha used "casteist remarks" against Congress MLA from Banga Tarlochan Singh Soondh.
He accused Badals of protecting Valtoha.
