Opposition Congress today alleged that slowing-down of the pace of CBI investigation into the multi-crore chitfund scam in Odisha was an indication of a nexus between the ruling BJD and the BJP.

The allegation was made by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra of Congress while speaking in the assembly. Mishra said this while referring to the allegation made by BJP legislature party leader K V Singhdeo yesterday.

The BJP leader had alleged that both the Congress and BJD had joined hands to disrupt the assembly proceedings.

Mishra claimed that the Congress was politically opposed to both the BJP and the BJD. He instead claimed that there were enough incidents which indicated an nexus between the BJD and the BJP.

"Slow down in the CBI investigation into the chitfund scam is one of the instances to doubt that both the parties have joined hands," he said.

The Congress leader said there are allegations of involvement of the Leader of the House (Chief Minister) in the chitfund scam.

"If there is no nexus, why the CBI investigation has gone to cold storage? What the CBI is doing in case of several BJD leaders," he asked.

Similarly, Mishra alleged that BJD and BJP leaders were working together in Bolangir district during the panchayat elections.

He also strongly criticised the BJP over its allegation that the Congress disrupted proceeding of the House to help the ruling BJD.

"We were demanding government's statement on the plight of farmers, for the interest of the suffering persons," Mishra said.
