Congress and CPI which are keen on having an understanding for polls in Telangana, are holding talks on seat-sharing, a senior Congress leader said here today.

Former minister K Jana Reddy said Congress is unwilling to part with certain seats presently held by it to the CPI, since Congress is keen on contesting from assembly segments like Husnabad and Devarakonda.

Meanwhile, CPI state secretary K Narayana said his party would have a seat-sharing agreement and not an alliance in which a common manifesto is prepared.

He reiterated that he favoured Congress, CPI and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) to reach an understanding for elections.

Simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and the undivided Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly would be held in the Telangana region on April 30 and on May 7 in the Seemandhra region.

The notification for polling in Telangana was issued yesterday.
