Congress president Sonia Gandhi today approved the appointment of office bearers in Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) ahead of the local body polls in the state.
According to GPCC release, former Member of Parliament (MP) from Surendranagar Somabhai Patel has been appointed as the vice president while Hemang Vasavada has been appointed as the general secretary.
Former MP Kunvarji Bavalia has been appointed as Rajkot city unit president, Mansukh Patel as Surendranagar district president, Jitu Aagath as Porbandar district president, Hasmukh Desai as Surat city president and Kaushik Shah as Gandhinagar city president.
Sitting MLA from Rajkot constituency Indranil Rajyaguru has been appointed as the chairman of campaign co-ordination committee.
Meanwhile, Congress has also approved the appointment of 33 secretaries in GPCC, it added.
