The BJP has said the Congress' Bharat bandh Monday against rising fuel prices has failed to make any impact in Maharashtra.
BJP chief whip in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Raj Purohit termed the bandh as "dud".
He said the people of Maharashtra are supporting the policies of the BJP-led Centre and state governments.
"Common people as well as businessmen rejected the Congress' call for the bandh as a result of which the bandh failed to make any impact. It ended up as dud," said the MLA who represents Mumbadevi constituency in south Mumbai.
He said members of the Jain community stayed away from work Monday on account of Mahavir Janma Vanchan Mahotsav.
"Jains remained off work today due to this pious festival. However, the Congress is claiming that Jains backed the bandh. This is ridiculous," he said.
