Congress today burnt effigies of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee protesting against the death of two infants due to medical negligence in a leading government hospital here.
"The incident itself shows the condition of the state health department and the callous attitude of the state. We condemn the incident," state Congress President Adhir Chowdhury said.
The nursing superintendent and his deputy at Kolkata Medical College and Hospital were transferred after the death of two newborns here last week due to overheating of a radiant warmer apparatus, hospital authorities said yesterday.
