Condemning the dual attacks that left two cops dead and over a dozen CRPF men injured, Jammu and Kashmir Congress today expressed concern over the unabated militant strikes despite the Centre's peace-initiative during Ramzan.

In Pulwama, two policemen died in a gunfight with militants while a grenade attack in Anantnag left over a dozen CRPF men injured.

"We condemn the terror attack today in which two cops were killed in this holy month of Ramzan," JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said.

"It shocked us that two grenade attacks on security forces have left dozens injured," he added.

On May 16, the Union government directed security forces not to launch counter-terror operations during Ramzan but said they reserve the right to retaliate if attacked.

The Congress said militants have no respect for any religion and were misusing the Central government's peace initiative to carry out their "nefarious" activities.

"The militants have no respect for any religion and are trying to take advantage of the situation to carry on their nefarious activities, which is matter of great concern," he said.

JKPCC deeply sympathises with the families of the martyred and prays for the early recovery of the injured.
