Condemning the "defection" of some of its MLAs to TRS, the main opposition Congress in Telangana today attacked the ruling party.

"We appeal to the chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council and the speaker of Telangana Legislative Assembly to uphold ethical, moral and democratic traditions in the new state and disqualify these MLAs and MLCs," a resolution by the Telangana Congress Legislature Party (CLP) here said.

The CLP met ahead of the Budget session of assembly starting from November five.

Some Congress MLAs and MLCs have announced support to the TRS government in the recent times.

Congress would pursue all the legal options to get these MLAs and MLCs disqualified under the anti-defection law, the resolution said.

"We also condemn the low moral standards of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and TRS leaders who are using all kinds of illegal and undemocratic methods to encourage defection from other parties to TRS," it said.

Another resolution said that CLP was re-dedicating itself to strengthen Congress and to work for the welfare of people, in particular the farmers, SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities, youth and students.

Describing the party president Sonia Gandhi as "the mother of Telangana" and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi as "youth icon", the CLP said in the resolution that it "salutes the supreme sacrifices of the Gandhi family for country".
