Congress and CPI(M) in Kerala today slammed the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, saying "it neglected state's needs".

KPCC president V M Sudheeran said "the budget proposals favoured only big corporates and rich people in the society. There is nothing for the common man in it."

There was no proposal in the budget to resolve problems faced by rubber, coconut and cardamom farmers in the state, CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said.

"BJP government has ignored the state the same way previous Congress-led UPA government did," he said.

Issues of rubber growers has been ignored. The demand for a price stabilisation fund for rubber was not considered in the budget, he said.

"Just like the recent Railway budget, Union budget also neglected Kerala," he said.
