Congress demands relief for Maharashtra's drought-hit farmers

Congress demanded immediate relief for farmers in distress due to the drought-like situation in Vidarbha and Marathwada disticts.

The party organised a march from Deekshabhoomi to Vidhan Bhawan, led by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Manikrao Thakre here today.

Later, a delegation comprising Manikrao Thakre, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithiviraj Chavan, Congress leader in the Maharashtra Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, former ministers Patangrao Kadam and Nitin Raut, former MP Vilas Muttemwar, former Minister of State Vijay Wadettiwar and others submitted a memorandum to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Amar Kale, the Congress MLA who was suspended from the House, also organised a farmers' march from Arvi in Wardha District to Vidhan Bhawan.
