The BJP-led NDA government today accused Congress of "sacrificing national interest" by stalling Parliament proceedings and said the opposition party does not want the government to function.
On the issue of re-convening the Parliament session to ensure the passage of GST Bill, Union Health Minister and senior BJP leader J P Nadda said no decision has been taken so far in this regard.
Nadda hit out at the Congress party for creating disruption in the Monsoon session of the Parliament, saying it shows the "irresponsible" behavior of the party.
"The Congress party did not allow the Parliament to function by creating obstructions in the smooth functioning of the session. By keeping in mind personal interest, they (Congress) have sacrificed the national interest. Party's personal interest was Gandhi family only," Nadda said while talking to reporters here.
"The main agenda of Congress party has been only to save the interest of Gandhi family. To see leadership of Gandhi remains and for that they were taking nation on hold," he said.
Nadda further said that the debate which took place on the second last day of the Monsoon session proved that the arguments presented by the Congress party in the session were "shallow."
"Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu had said that the Government was ready for discussion. But their (Congress) intention was not to hold any discussion but to stall proceedings of the House," he said.
The "tactics" adopted by Congress to create disruption in the House proceedings "unmasked" its "irresponsible behavior".
"People should know about their irresponsible behaviour. They tried to stop the growth of country in an undemocratic way. We are committed to the development of every section of the society including poor and we want development work should go on. But the Congress party does not want to allow the government to function," he claimed.
Nadda said that Congress could not "digest" the way the Parliament functioned during the 2015 Budget session.
