Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Ajay Singh, today criticised former Chief Minister Sunderlal Patwa for "shielding" Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan by "levelling allegations" against Governor Ram Naresh Yadav.

The Congress leader alleged that Patwa was shielding Chouhan, who was running away from a discussion in the Legislative Assembly on the issue of corruption.

Ajay claimed that when Bhai Mahaveer, appointed by the BJP-led NDA government, was the state's Governor and BJP was in the opposition in Madhya Pradesh, "Raj Bhawan had turned into a BJP's annexe". Why didn't Patwa remember the sanctity of Governor's office then, he asked.

Patwa had yesterday written a letter to the Governor, appealing him to withdraw the letter he had written to the BJP government, asking it to re-convene the monsoon session of the Assembly.

The session was abruptly wound up earlier this month while the debate on Congress's no confidence motion was yet to be held.
