Congress launches two-day stir demanding complete loan waiver

The Maharashtra unit of the Congress launched a two-day statewide agitation, demanding complete loan waiver for farmers by organising demonstrations in front of district collector offices today.

On the first day of the agitation today, Maharashtra Congress state unit chief Ashok Chavan led a demonstration in Nanded, while Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil participated in a demonstration at Ahmednagar, according to a statement issued by the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan led a demonstration in Pune, while Narayan Rane led a demonstration in Sindhudurg and former Union Home minister Sushilkumar Shinde participated in a demonstration in Solapur, according to the statement.
 

Former Congress Maharashtra unit chief Manikrao Thakre led a protest in Akola, while senior leader Rohidas Patil led a protest in Dhule, Ravishet Patil led a demonstration in Raigad, Patangrao Kadam led a demonstration in Sangli and Mohammed Arif Naseem Khan led a demonstration in Thane, the statement said.

Senior Congress leaders, office bearers and workers were out on the streets in large numbers, joined by farmers, the statement said.
