A senior Congress leader today said the party is losing in elections in states mainly because of lack of discipline among the party members.

"Why are we losing in politics? One main reason is lack of discipline," All India Congress Committee general secretary C P Joshi said while addressing the concluding function of a state-level training camp of Seva Dal here.

He said Congress party has done lot of developmental works since Independence and much of the credit for the country's progress goes to the "struggle and sacrifice" of the party.

"But still we are losing and there is a crisis. Our MLAs and MPs are not getting trained. We need to polish them. We have to understand what are the problems. Otherwise, we will focus only on becoming MLAs," Joshi said.

He said the training has to be must for all members of the party for imbibing and understanding the ideology and philosophy of Congress.

Joshi ridiculed BJP's attempt to take credit of all the developments that India has made after being in power for just seven months.

"They (BJP) say that nothing has happened in 60 years! Today they are saying India is a superpower and they did it in seven months!," he said.

Joshi charged BJP of trying to distort the communal harmony of the country by playing religious politics.

"They never talk about bad things of the Hindu religion. They have never mentioned about the condition of widows or SCs or STs of the Hindu religion. We also believe in Hinduism and God. Who has given them the right to talk on behalf of all Hindus?" he questioned.
