Senior West Bengal Congress leader Manas Bhunia today wrote to state Home Secretary Basudeb Banerjee alleging that the West Midnapore district police was tapping his phone.

"I came to know from a reliable source that my telephone number was being tapped under the order of the SP, Paschim Medinipur(West Midnapore), along with the telephone of Amal Kumar Panda, the Sabang block Congress Committee president.

"I understand that it is something serious in nature when the district police superintendent has gone beyond her limit to do this to challenge my personal integrity and security," Bhunia, a former WBPCC president said in the letter.

Bhunia is a Congress MLA from Sabong constituency in West Midnapore.

"Are we criminals? Are we dacoits? Are we mafia? Are we anti-socials? Are we terrorists? Are we anti-nationals? I want full investigation for this and want justice from your end," Bhunia said in his letter.
