Raising the issue, senior Congress MLA Mukesh Sharma alleged that a nexus exists between "tent mafia" and municipal councillors in such bookings.
"The tent mafias often book the parks in fake names and offer them to people by charging hefty money," he alleged.
He said the municipal corporations have authorised the councillors to make recommendations for booking and "they often extend help to tent mafia in squeezing money from the needy persons".
A number of Congress MLAs supported Sharma demanded a transparent mechanism for booking of the parks..
Urban Development Minister Arvinder Singh said he will take up the issue with Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna.
Sharma also demanded a transparent mechanism in disbursement of old-age and widow pension to the beneficiaries by the municipal bodies.
"Why cannot they ensure online transfer of pension to the beneficiaries? The city government has been releasing pension through electronic clearance system," he said.
