Opposition Congress and NCP separately held demonstrations here against "sky-rocketing" prices of essential commodities and demanded immediate action to control the price rise.
Protesters led by city Congress president Vikas Thakre staged a demonstration at District Collector office yesterday as workers raised slogans demanding that prices be brought down well before Diwali.
They also submitted a memorandum to the Collectorate office.

At a separate demonstration, NCP leaders, including party state women's president Chitra Wagh, former Minister Anil Deshmukh, MLC Prakash Gajhiye and former MLA Dinanath Padole, held a protest at the All India Radio square in Civil Lines, yesterday.
Prices of staple pulses like Tur rose to Rs 200 per kg even as the Government last week said that it will buy 40,000 tonnes of pulses from farmers to create a buffer stock for controlling prices.
Raids were also conducted to tighten noose around hoarders in various states like Maharashtra, Karnataka and thousands of tonnes of pulses that were hoarded in godowns were seized.
