Former MLC Sagar Meghe and sitting Congress MLA Namdeo Usendi were nominated by the AICC tonight for contesting from Wardha and Gadchiroli Lok Sabha constituencies respectively.

All elected representatives including office bearers of block and district congress committee (DCC), Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, NSUI, Zila Parishad and Municipal Council members of the party had voted to elect the consensus candidate.

Meghe had joined the Congress under the late Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Usendi is the first tribal medical practitioner and replaces sitting Congress MP Marotrao Kowase in the backward Maoist-infested Gadchiroli district in eastern Vidarbha.

With this development, the Congress has announced all the 10 party tickets in the Vidarbha region, except Chandrapur, which goes to the polls on April 10.

In its first list, released last week, seven time MP Vilas Muttemwar (Nagpur) and party general secretary Mukul Wasnik (Ramtek) were retained.
