Close on the heels of hurling a petrol-filled bottle at the house of former Congress MP R Prabhu, miscreants today damaged Congress party flag poles at six places in and around the city.

According to police, the poles were found damaged in Singanallur and Peelamedu police station limits and based on the complaints, cases were registered.

Some miscreants had hurled the bottle at the house of Prabhu yesterday, protesting against Congress opposing the release of the accused in the Rajiv Gandhi Assassination cases.

Meanwhile, 17 workers of Naam Tamizhar Katchi, were arrested for attempting to block a train at the city railway station to protest against the Congress on the issue of release.

The activists, raising slogans against Congress and its leaders, were stopped before they could reach the platform, police said.
