Madhya Pradesh state Congress president Arun Yadav pedalled a bicycle along with his partymen from Gandhi Bhavan to the divisional commissioner's office here today, to protest against the recent hike in fuel prices.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government is about to complete an year in office, but 'achche din' (good days) for the people as promised by him during the run-up to Lok Sabha elections last year is yet to be ushered in," Yadav said after his journey.

He said that people did not get any respite from inflation and rising prices has made poor people restless.

The recent hike in prices of diesel and petrol would fuel price rise of essential commodities, which would burden the public further, he said.

Among others who pedalled bicycles along with Yadav, were Congress MLA Jitu Patwari, former Congress MP Sajjan Singh Verma and former Congress MLA Tulsi Selawat.

The protesters handed over a memorandum to an officer at the divisional commissioner's office addressed to the Madhya Pradesh Governor regarding the fuel price hike.
